Automation and Instrumentation Manager

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise the maintenance and servicing of electronic, instrument and metrological components of the equipment.
• Oversee repair and calibration of electronic, instrument and metrological units.
• Oversee automation system (Delta V) installed on the facilities for the smooth and reliable operation
• Ensure proper calibration and operational readiness of the equipment.
• Organize and oversee repair and servicing of mechanical parts of control and measurement devices.
• Supervise technical inspections, installation of operational instructions, and preparation of mechanical components of control equipment.
• Manage the refurbishment of faulty C&A and instrument equipment parts and production of new units.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, and adjustment of electronic, instrument and metrological equipment in production areas.
• Supervise routine maintenance and operational support of equipment.
• Ensure proper installation of signal wiring and related infrastructure to support C&A operations.
• Coordinate automation, metrological and instrument initiatives and ensure smooth integration into production processes.
• Plan, organize, and supervise annual, monthly, weekly, and daily operational activities in the automation, instrumentation and metrological areas.
• Prepare annual and monthly technical service plans, including health, safety, and compliance schedules.
• Plan monthly and daily workload distribution, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
• Forecast and manage material and equipment requirements for operations.
• Supervise the planning and execution of the disciplines related projects.
• Lead and manage the structural division, including work allocation and operational oversight.
• Participate in recruitment, training needs assessment, and professional development of team members.
• Ensure discipline, performance evaluation, and employee motivation initiatives are implemented.
• Monitor and enhance workforce efficiency and engagement through structured improvement plans.
• Develop and implement proposals to strengthen departmental capabilities and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
• Professional certifications in industrial automation, control systems, or instrumentation (e.g., ISA, PLC, HMI, SCADA) are highly desirable.
• Extensive experience (7–10+ years) in industrial automation, control systems, or instrumentation in oil & gas or heavy industry environments.
• Understanding of mechanical systems and measurement instrumentation.
• Familiarity with industrial production processes and integration of automation systems.
• Proven experience in leading technical teams and managing operational workflows.
• Knowledge of relevant standards, regulations, and best practices in automation and industrial safety.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent planning, organizational, and operational management skills.
• Effective leadership and team management skills; able to motivate and develop staff.
• Proven experience with custody transfer and allocation metering systems, including metering skids for oil and gas, ultrasonic and Coriolis flowmeters, prover systems, flow computers (e.g., Emerson ROC), and compliance with API and ISO metrology standards.
• Hands-on experience with online process analysers including gas chromatographs (GC), moisture analysers, H₂S analyzers, oxygen analyzers, and sampling systems. Ability to manage analyzer shelters, calibration, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Strong experience with Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS), including DeltaV DCS, SIS, ESD, F&G systems, OPC, Modbus TCP/RTU, HART, Ethernet/IP, industrial switches, managed networks, virtualization, server architecture, and cybersecurity requirements (IEC 62443).
• Extensive experience with specification, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management of smart field instrumentation including pressure, temperature, level, flow, vibration, control valves, valve positioners, emergency shutdown valves (ESDV), HIPPS, and SIL-rated instrumentation.
• Demonstrated experience leading brownfield and greenfield automation projects including FEED, detailed engineering review, FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup, vendor management, MOC, HAZOP support, SIL verification, and interface management with Operations, Process, Mechanical, Electrical, and Maintenance teams.
