The Shift Engineer is responsible for the 24x7 Command & Control Room operations, serving as the primary L2 operational authority. This role encompasses the monitoring, triaging, ticket management, validation, and closure of all operational incidents related to smart gas meters, retrofit modules, EVCs, sensors, gateways, communication networks, and AMI applications. The Shift Engineer ensures compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs), maintains data integrity, system stability, and guarantees continuous service availability. Furthermore, this position acts as the initial formal operational interface with Azerigaz for incident visibility and coordination, utilizing approved communication channels.

Real-Time Monitoring & Issue Detection
Ticket Management & Ownership Assignment
Create, review, and manage incidents and service tickets within the AMI O&M Portal.
Assign tickets to the Backend Technology Team, Telco, OEM, or Contractor Field Teams via the AMI help desk Portal.
Share ticket references and high-level status updates with Azerigaz for critical or major-impacting incidents, as applicable.
Tracking SLA, Escalation & Governance
Validation, Stabilization & Closure
Perform technical validation, ensuring communication is restored, reads are available, and valve/pressure statuses are verified.
Conduct business validation, confirming data visibility in MDMS, updated dashboards, and the absence of repeat alarms.
Apply a defined stabilization monitoring window prior to final closure.
Communicate closure or stabilization confirmation to Azerigaz for major incidents.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Maintain comprehensive shift handover logs, incident reports, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documentation.
Support daily, weekly, and monthly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and SLA reporting shared with Azerigaz.
Highlight recurring issues and propose improvement recommendations during joint O&M review meetings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related engineering field.
2+ years of experience in Gas Utility Control Room, Network Operations Center (NOC), Smart Metering, or O&M environments.
Proficiency in AMI, HES, MDMS, NB-IoT, LoRaWAN, Gas networks, meters, and sensors.
Analytical mindset, capability for shift work, and clear communication.
Fluent in Azerbaijani and English (written and spoken); Russian proficiency is an asset.
