We are looking for a Java Software Engineer with 1–2 years of professional experience to join our team and contribute to the development and maintenance of software solutions for an insurance project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of professional experience in Java backend development.
• Good knowledge of Java Core, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Collections, Streams, Exception Handling, and basic concurrency concepts.
• Familiarity with Java 17+ and willingness to learn Java 25.
• Hands-on experience developing RESTful APIs using Spring Boot.
• Basic knowledge of Spring Data JPA and Hibernate.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Basic understanding of Apache Kafka, producer/consumer concepts, and messaging systems.
• Understanding of HTTP, REST, JSON, and frontend-backend communication.
• Experience using Git and build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
• Basic experience writing unit tests using JUnit.
• Ability to debug applications, troubleshoot issues, and analyze existing code.
• Understanding of fundamental software design principles.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and willingness to learn.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Experience in insurance or financial services projects is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka is preferred.
• Familiarity with React and TypeScript is a plus.
• Familiarity with Docker and microservices architecture is preferred.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL query optimization is a plus.
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance Java-based backend applications and services for an insurance project.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Support the development and maintenance of backend services within a microservices-based architecture.
• Work with relational databases, write SQL queries, and manage data operations using Spring Data JPA and Hibernate.
• Contribute to system integrations and messaging processes using Apache Kafka.
• Analyze existing code, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement bug fixes.
• Write and maintain unit tests to ensure code quality and application reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and follow software development best practices.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, business analysts, QA engineers, and other team members to deliver software solutions.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum development processes, including sprint planning and daily meetings.
