Role Description The Head Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based at Macara Hotel in the Quba District. This position oversees all accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and bank reconciliations. The Head Accountant prepares financial statements, budgeting and forecasting reports, and supports management with financial analysis for decision-making. Daily responsibilities include monitoring cash flow, ensuring compliance with local regulations and tax requirements, coordinating with external auditors, and maintaining accurate financial records. The role also involves improving internal controls, guiding junior accounting staff, and collaborating with other departments to support the hotel’s financial performance.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in core accounting functions, including general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Strong skills in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support managerial decision-making.
- Experience with accounting software and spreadsheets, along with strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of relevant tax laws, regulatory requirements, and internal control best practices.
- Ability to lead and mentor accounting staff, organize workflows, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA or equivalent) is an advantage.
- Previous experience in hospitality or hotel accounting is highly beneficial.
- Strong integrity, confidentiality in handling financial data, and the ability to work on-site in the Quba District.
