Department - Project Delivery

Reports To Delivery Director

Experience Required - Minimum 5 years in contracts management, preferably 2 years in the renewable energy (solar/wind) sector

Qualification - Bachelor's degree in Law, Engineering, or Business Administration (Master's/MBA an advantage)

Job Purpose

  • The Contracts Manager is responsible for the preparation, negotiation, execution, and administration of contracts across the full lifecycle of renewable energy or Large infrastructure projects — from development and EPC through to long-term operations, maintenance, and asset management. The role ensures that all contractual arrangements protect the Company's commercial interests, comply with applicable regulations and industry standards, and support the reliable, risk-managed performance of the Company's renewable energy asset portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the preparation, drafting, and negotiation of contracts for renewable energy projects, including but not limited to Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC), Balance of Plant (BOP), equipment supply, Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), grid connection/interconnection agreements, land lease agreements, and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and Asset Management agreements. Ensure that all contracts are drafted in a manner that protects the Company's commercial interests.
  • Work closely with the Legal, Project Development, Engineering, Finance, and Asset Management teams to ensure that contractual terms comply with project requirements, technical standards, financing/lender requirements, and industry regulations. Ensure that performance indicators, availability guarantees, and warranty provisions are accurately and clearly reflected in the contracts.
  • Identify and assess legal, technical, and commercial risks associated with contracts across the development, construction, and operational phases of renewable assets, and take the necessary measures to mitigate such risks. Ensure that risk-allocation provisions (liability caps, indemnities, insurance, force majeure) are fully and accurately incorporated into the contracts.
  • Ensure the preparation and maintenance of standard contract templates used within the Company (EPC, O&M, Asset Management, PPA, supply, and services agreements) and their regular updating in line with the latest renewable energy industry practices, FIDIC standards where applicable, and evolving international and local regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that project contracts concluded with EPC contractors, O&M providers, equipment suppliers, and subcontractors comply with technical and commercial requirements. Participate in the preparation of bid evaluation matrices and in identifying gaps and discrepancies during contractor and vendor selection.
  • Manage contracts throughout the operating phase of renewable assets, including O&M and Asset Management agreements, monitoring of availability and performance guarantees, degradation warranties, spare-parts and service-level obligations, and coordination of contract renewals and amendments.
  • Monitor the performance of contractual obligations across the portfolio, formally regulate planned changes and variation/change orders, and monitor key contractual deadlines, milestones, and notice periods. Prepare relevant status and risk reports for management.
  • Support the management of contractual claims, disputes, and warranty/insurance claims, including liaison with Legal counsel, coordination of supporting documentation, and tracking of resolution timelines.
  • Track and administer guarantees, bonds, retentions, and liquidated damages provisions across the contract portfolio, ensuring timely release, extension, or enforcement as required.
  • Ensure that all project and asset contract documents, correspondence, and records are stored systematically and securely, and are readily available for internal reporting, audits, and lender/investor due diligence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in contracts/commercial management, preferably 2 years in the renewable energy (solar/wind) sector with demonstrable exposure to renewable energy project development, EPC/construction contracts, or O&M and asset management agreements.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Law, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master's degree, MBA, or professional legal/commercial qualification is an advantage.
  • Contract Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of EPC, BOP, O&M, PPA, land lease, and interconnection/grid connection contract structures used in solar and/or wind projects.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with international contracting standards (e.g., FIDIC), local regulatory frameworks, and lender/financing requirements typical of project-financed renewable assets.
  • Core Skills: Strong contract drafting, review, and negotiation skills, with sound commercial and risk-assessment judgement.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools and document management systems is a plus.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with Legal, Engineering, Finance, and Asset Management teams.
  • Language: Fluency in English (additional languages relevant to the Company's operating markets are an advantage).

  • Contract drafting, review, and negotiation
  • Commercial and legal risk identification & mitigation
  • Renewable energy sector and asset lifecycle knowledge
