Job Description

• Wood is currently seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer (Offshore) to join our Construction and Maintenance team, supporting the safe and efficient execution of offshore electrical works.
• He is responsible for maintenance operations and activities within his area of competence.
• He ensures that maintenance operations under his responsibility are carried out in strict accordance with COMPANY’s current safety rules and maintenance procedures and in accordance with standard industry practice, thereby guaranteeing the quality of maintenance operations, carried out on site by CONTRACTOR.
• He guarantees a good level of availability of the equipment he is responsible for on production site.

• Ensures HSE policy fulfillment during his activities
• Have a good understanding of COMPANY HSE rules.
• Assist the Seniors on site to spread the HSE policies and to put the rules in place.
• Participate in safety talk before and after intervention
• Ensures that have the required habilitation.
• Respects the waste management policy in force on site, verifying that all activities performed under his own responsibility comply with it, without any exceptions.
  

Responsibilities

• Operations
• Performs on site the maintenance operations which are placed under his responsibility,
• Assists specialists working under Specific Maintenance Contracts (SMC),
• Ensures that COMPANY’s HSE regulations are respected (especially procedures related to Work Permits), as well as approved operating procedures and standard industry practice during performance of maintenance operations placed under his responsibility,
• Ensures that all maintenance and repairs of the equipment under his responsibility are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and in strict compliance with COMPANY operating procedures and any relevant statutory legislation in order to maintain all such equipment in sound and safe operating condition.
• Carries out, at the Senior request, any intervention within his area of competence.
• Takes in charge of the systems under his responsibility in case of breakdown until correct operation status.
• Identifies recurrent corrective maintenance interventions, analyses them and suggests improvements,
• Keep a critical eye on current preventive maintenance programmes and, if need be, suggests improvements,
• Warns Senior of any recurring problems related to the availability or quality of spare parts and Suggests improvements and requests modifications.
• Participate in the drawing up annual requests for equipment and tools.
  

Qualifications
The holder of this position must have the following qualifications:

• 3 to 5 years’ experience in the maintenance field on O&G production installations especially in electrical,
• A basic knowledge of the process of O&G treatment, installations and a thorough knowledge of the instrument equipment used in O&G treatment installations
• Understanding and use of basic laws and units of physic (resistance, inductance, DC & AC current and voltage, frequency, active and reactive power…). Be able to differentiate low and high voltages
• Be able to read and use drawings (single line and schematic diagrams), vendor documents, name plate. Be knowledgeable of electrical symbols.
• Know how to select and use the available and necessary hand tools for electricians (including special insulated tools).
• Be familiar with construction practice: laying, pulling and connecting cables (using cables glands, terminals blocks, cable lugs, bus bar, sealing compound…)
• Correct use and handling of multimeters, clip on ammeters, Ohmmeter, earth tester (megger), earth leakage kit and recorder
• Be able to maintain and troubleshoot small electrical installations like lighting and heat tracing circuit.
• Be able to identify the different types of cables (including ground ones) connect those properly (using lugs) and perform their proper laying (in trenches, on cable tray…). Select, use and install the appropriate cable glands and tags.
• Be able to do preventive maintenance on non-critical equipment: batteries, motor, breaker, transformer, contactor and switchboard.
• Be able to test and verify alarms, trip and interlock settings.
• Be able to perform insulation and continuity tests
• Pride in his work, ability to maintain good relations with colleagues and others,
• Physical ability to work on offshore installations in the climatic conditions of the site,
