О роли
We are looking for an experienced Senior Piping Design Engineer to join our Piping Engineering team and take responsibility for piping design and layout activities for Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical and Downstream projects. The candidate should have strong practical experience in piping design, excellent AutoCAD skills, good knowledge of AVEVA E3D and a solid understanding of international piping codes and standards.
Location: Baku, Azerbaijan
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review piping layouts and routing for process and utility systems;
- Prepare piping arrangements, equipment layouts, GA drawings and piping design deliverables;
- Develop and maintain 3D piping models in accordance with P&IDs, Line Lists, PMS and project specifications;
- Coordinate piping interfaces with Process, Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Instrumentation and other disciplines;
- Ensure proper consideration of equipment nozzle orientation, operation, maintenance, accessibility and constructability requirements;
- Prepare and review piping isometrics and other piping drawings;
- Participate in 3D model reviews, clash detection and interdisciplinary coordination;
- Develop practical piping solutions for pumps, vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, pipe racks and other process equipment;
- Review existing facilities and develop piping solutions for tie-ins, modifications and revamp works;
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, Piping Material Specifications and applicable codes and standards;
- Provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level piping designers/engineers when required;
- Identify design issues and propose technically sound and practical solutions;
- Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to ensure piping designs are suitable for fabrication and installation.
Education & Professional Requirements
- University degree in Engineering is mandatory;
- Mechanical Engineering degree is highly preferred;
- Relevant experience in Piping Design / Piping Engineering;
- Strong practical understanding of piping design principles and engineering practices;
- Ability to independently handle piping design activities and deliverables;
- Previous experience in a senior or lead-level piping design role is preferred.
Software Requirements
- AutoCAD – very strong knowledge is mandatory;
- AVEVA E3D – good working knowledge is required;
- Smart 3D / SmartPlant 3D – knowledge is an advantage;
- Navisworks and other 3D model review / clash detection software are an advantage.
Codes & Standards
Good working knowledge of piping codes and standards is required, particularly:
- ASME B31.3 – mandatory;
- ASME B36.10 / ASME B36.19;
- ASME B16 series;
- API standards applicable to piping and process facilities;
- GOST standards – an advantage;
- EN / DIN standards – an advantage;
- NFPA standards – an advantage;
- Experience working with client-specific Piping Material Specifications (PMS) and Piping Classes.
Experience
- Senior-level experience in Piping Design / Piping Engineering;
- Experience in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical or Downstream projects is highly preferred;
- Experience with process units, pump systems, tanks, vessels, heat exchangers and pipe racks;
- Experience with Greenfield and/or Brownfield projects;
- Experience with tie-ins, revamp and modification projects is an advantage;
- Practical knowledge of piping materials, valves, fittings, flanges and specialty piping components;
- Experience with Piping Material Specifications, Piping Classes and MTO is an advantage;
- Experience with construction and site activities related to piping is an advantage.
Technical & Professional Skills
- Strong ability to read and understand P&IDs, piping drawings, equipment drawings and technical specifications;
- Good understanding of piping routing, constructability and installation requirements;
- Ability to develop piping layouts considering process, safety, operation and maintenance requirements;
- Strong interdisciplinary coordination skills;
- Ability to independently review and resolve design issues;
- Good communication and teamwork skills;
- Ability to manage priorities and meet project deadlines;
- Good command of technical English.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- Extensive Downstream / Refinery / Petrochemical project experience;
- Strong practical experience with AVEVA E3D;
- Experience with both ASME and GOST-based projects;
- Experience with EN/DIN standards;
- Brownfield, Revamp and Tie-in experience;
- Previous experience with international EPC contractors;
- Experience coordinating piping design activities with other engineering disciplines and construction teams.
