Job Title: Production Engineer SME
Duration: 6 months
Schedule: Rotational or residential basis by agreement.

Reporting Line: Reports directly to the Vice President – Subsurface.
Job Summary
The Production Engineer SME is responsible for leading the Company's Production Engineering function across all operated assets. The role provides strategic direction, technical leadership, and governance for production optimization, well performance, artificial lift, production surveillance, production forecasting, and production enhancement initiatives to maximize asset value while ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations.
The Production Engineer SME works closely with Reservoir Engineering, Geology, Drilling, Operations, HSE, Business Development, and Executive Management to support the Company's production growth strategy and long-term field development objectives.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Production Engineering Department and define departmental strategy.
• Develop production optimization strategy across all operated assets.
• Establish engineering standards, workflows, and technical governance.
• Provide technical assurance for production engineering studies and major operational decisions.
• Lead production forecasting and annual production planning.
• Oversee artificial lift and production surveillance programs.
• Support Field Development Plans and corporate business planning.
• Develop departmental budgets, KPIs, and resource plans.
• Build technical capability through mentoring and succession planning.
• Work closely with Executive Management to achieve production and business objectives.
  

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
• Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in upstream Oil & Gas, including significant experience in Production Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of leadership or management experience within Production Engineering.
  

Experience & Skills:

• Proficiency with industry-standard petroleum engineering software (e.g., Prosper, OFM, MBAL, tNavigator).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Soft management skills and ability to build effective relationships based on trust and honest discussions within multidisciplinary teams.
• Advanced language proficiency in English and Azerbaijani.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
• Awareness of HSE principles.
• Ability to manage time and work in a tight operational work environment.
